100 Men who Care

of Greater Moncton

Four times a year, the 100+ Men who Care of Greater Moncton members meet for 1 hour to give the total amount of funds from the evening to one deserving non-profit organization from our tri-city community. At each meeting, men are committing to donating $100 to an awarded charity ($100.00 x 4 times a year = $400.00 charitable donation per year). All men must be a member to nominate and vote for a charity.  All are welcomed to attend and check us out!

Members are encouraged to nominate a non-profit organization in advance of the meeting. Members do not have to nominate to attend the meetings; however, they must be a member to nominate a charity. All nominations are placed in a pool for the next meeting’s draw.

Meeting Details

  • Meet for 1 Hour!  Plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start of each meeting for Meet & Greet with other members.
  • Bring together 100 (or more) men in Greater Moncton who care about their local community and who are committed to community service.
  • Representatives from the three randomly selected charities will be asked to speak for five minutes about their organization.
  • Each registered member, who is present at the quarterly meeting and who is prepared to donate, may vote for one of the selected charities.
  • Once a charity is selected, each member writes a $100 cheque directly to the charity and watches how the group's commitment turns into a $10,000+ donation!

Additional details

  • Members who did not vote for the selected charity agree to make their donation regardless.
  • Members will receive a tax receipt directly from the charitable organization.
  • Members who are unable to attend a meeting are expected to make arrangements prior to the meeting to send in their cheques to one of the co-chairs or to give their cheque to another attending member to deliver on his behalf.
  • Organizations under consideration must be in existence for at least one year at the time of nomination and must be a registered charity in Canada (as listed on the Canada Revenue Agency web site).  They agree to provide individual tax receipts directly to the contributing members.
  • A charitable organization not selected at one meeting will remain in the draw for subsequent meetings.
  • A successful organization who receives funds is not eligible for future consideration, however the nominating members may submit the name of another organization for consideration.
  • Ties will be decided by further votes.  If a tie persists, the membership will vote to either (1) randomly select one of the tied organizations by draw; or (2) divide the group donation equally between the tied organizations.
  • The selected organization must agree to not provide or disclose member information to a third party except for tax purposes.
  • The organization having received funds from the previous meeting will be asked to give a five minute update at the next meeting on how the awarded funds benefited their organization.

Two weeks before every meeting, three (3) charities will be randomly drawn from the pool of nominated charities.  The three selected charities will be notified in advance of the meeting.  Each charity will have five (5) minutes at the meeting to share what their charity is all about and how the charity could benefit from the funds.  There are no presentations, but rather a more informal verbal explanation and heart-to-heart.  The awarded charity will be asked to come back to the next meeting and share how they have used the donated funds.  Please see "Nominate a Charity" for more details on charity eligibility.
